Daily Prayer and Praise: The Book of Psalms arranged for Private and Family Use, Banner of Truth edition, 2000, as reprinted from the original 1878 edition

Vol. 1, p. 139

Ps. 27:8 – “When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.”

Faith hears the voice of God sweetly speaking in the Scripture page It calls, it invites, it allures.  It warns to arise and flee the vanities of the earth.  It tells of their emptiness.  It promises peace and delight in the reconciled smile of God.

Vol. 2, p. 74

Ps. 95:8-11 – “Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:  When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.  Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways: Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.”

Let there be no delay.  To-day Jehovah calls usTomorrow our ears may be incapable to hear.  Let us use every means to melt and soften our obdurate hearts
